Why are we on Earth?

Image
Why are we here? Why are there humans on earth seeing the short time given to all men? Who sets the standard for how we live on earth? If we say the first man failed, who then do we look to? What really matter in life, what should consume us? Is it career: to work and earn a living, and what is the purpose, it is just to fill fil our stomach; gain wealth; be famous and die – what else; is it to raise a family: of what use is that; is it to have friends and help people reach their goals then die? Again of what use is that if man will live a few years and die, and all men will eventually die. Then why the trouble of coming to earth in the first place, pf what significance is it? what is it that connects it (these concerns) all? What is the centre of all human existence? Seeing there are two things common to all men birth and death. If life is just made for the sole aim of living, for the consumption of man alone then the brevity of it is a poor design. If all of life was design for...

Leadership and Communication - Part 2

The next issue is interest. We can’t really listen to people and communicate with our team until we are interested in them. A common pitfall is trying to make the team an interesting one or get people to be interested in what we do as we. It may work for a time. Little wonder why people in the team we supposed should be interested in and still look outside? Something is getting their interest, and that is a distraction to them and the team. A team can travel as fast as it slowest member can; and all these, everything falls and rise on leadership. Don’t pretend to be interested, be genuinely interested. People can tell when you are genuinely interested in them and when you are trying to be. It is not just what we say. People read us beyond that. The human message is a complex mix of our oral and body language, with our actions and dealings with them and others both present and past. They also draw on our verbally shared experience with them, and we are not always in control of all thes...

Leadership and Communication - Part 1

Communication is a key ingredient in leadership. Communication is a much talked about subject in leadership. The question is how does it affect leadership? It is a serious matter in leadership, because we can’t lead effectively without effective communication. In simple terms communication means the act or ability to pass an intended message. Most time the crises in leadership is that we assume we’re communicating, but surprisingly many of these times we do not. We only talk. It can never be a team thing until we can effectively communicate our ideas, intentions, believes and thoughts. It is important we analyze and measure our communication tools and diligently apply them. People's needs are different therefore communication does not come easy. And again we can’t do without it because it’s an everyday thing. Leadership is responsible for moving everyone in a team from one point to the other, and until this responsibility is accepted and understood it can’t work as we desire. It ...

HOW TO MEET HER: Don’t fail at that next proposer

(By G.Y Lekia) Genesis 24 Abraham had entrusted the task or responsibility of getting a wife for his son to his eldest servant. Not to say much of what that means, the eldest servant we believer had enough of discernment, and training under the patriarch to function in the capacity he had been charged. The old Abraham had to charge his servant by oath, God being the witness. This was a griever matter than the covenant Abraham had made with Abimelech where he brought seven eve lambs (Genesis 21: 28). Here the servant was ask to place his hands under the thigh of Abraham – a man God had made great, whom the children of Heth called lord (Genesis 23:6). The servant was to feel the weight of the thigh of the man who is the father of them who believe by faith, a man who had sojourn on many lands,a friend of God (Isaiah 51:2; Genesis 23:4). At the point of taking hold of Abraham’s thigh he knew the weight of his master’s heart on the matter. Abraham was now close to hi...

DON’T FART IN THAT CHURCH

Image
Some of us are far from knowing what a church is. Well, I don’t know what to call your local assembly. May be at best we can say it’s a social gathering, as someone rightly said “after Facebook it’s church”. And when you speak in this manner here, beware they will scourge you in their synagogue. Some time ago a young boy ate cocoyam and said it was yam. That’s what we have made out of the church. It’s badly twisted that we have completely lost it flavor and definition in every sense. Simplicity, beauty, power, fellowship is out of it. It has been hijacked and sincere seekers cries out ‘they have taken my Lord and I know not where they laid Him. Ardent lovers of our Lord, religious fanatic or extremist as they choose to call them, still seek and yell at the top of their voices to restore sanity to our father’s house. What do we have left for our children? How can the bride of Christ be so flamboyantly adorn till she has lost her identity, and men are force to believe what we see ...
