WHAT'S NEXT (part 2)?

MEET MIKE

Rick was impressed with that little testimony. He wanted similar favour in his life. He wished he was well connected to someone at the top, off course not God. He was sure God wouldn’t do that for him. He’d a faint idea of God and believes little in his existence. God was out of it because they were millions of miles apart. The major concern at this time was to secure a good employment. He needed to take care of his aging parents and his younger siblings who were already placing an indirect demand on him. He’d thought these were just his thoughts not until his colleague Tome Bone bent over to ask ‘what’s next after graduation’? It gave some confidence seeing he wasn’t alone. Even the well to do student were trouble considering what the society has turned. He considered many options among the additional challenge was that he wasn’t sure what he wanted for himself. But he knew he wanted success, he wanted it big in life.
A recent incident had left a big blow on him. And through it learnt that choices matter a lot in life. He knew he can’t fool himself and make quick and damning decision, not now he was leaving college. He’d made mistake in life and knew better what that has cost him. He thought of going to see a counsellor. He wasn’t sure that would help either. He needed someone who knows the life-long history of his life and can decide Omnipotently for him.  Time was counting and he needed to act fast.
He decided to meet the junior colleague who’d share the story with him years ago. He hopes to find him. He doesn’t know his address but he does know his worship place. He contacted him and they arranged to meet.

It was by few minutes past four in the evening. The day was sunny and the sun was just beginning to cast long shadows on things with caressing feel on the skin. He paid the cab and entered the restaurant at the left turn. Almost at the entrance his phone rang. The voice at other end spoke faintly ‘we’re supposed to meet by four this evening. Where are you’? From few encounters, he knew Mike was there already, and he was right.
‘Why do you want to see me’? Came the curious but fame question. Rick was still gathering his thoughts; not that he wasn’t sure of what to say, but he wanted to appear to be in charge. He was bothered that this was a junior colleague. But he couldn't tell why he has to see Mike. ‘I need your help Mike’. 'I’ve met you few times and really wants to ask some questions'. Mike’s curiosity seems to grow: he leaned a little towards Rick. They sat opposite from each other. For a moment there was a brief silence between them. Mike was wondering why Rick needed to meet him. He has shown confidence and bravery many times. ‘What could be wrong’? After searching for the right worlds Rick continued. ‘Em… em, I’m kind of worry about life recently. He paused to see Mikes reaction. Mike was just still without altering a word, gazing at him intently… the look on his face kind of say ‘that’s not enough go on’.
Rick was certain he’s got Mike on his side – he could talk to him. ‘I have not been close to God, and that is a draw back. The issue with me now demands some higher powers: so I feel. The thought of leaving college is overwhelming. Not sure what tomorrow holds is what I dread now. He spoke to mike extensively while Mike listened, he could sense the moment of emptiness Rick was facing.

‘You’ve not been a religious person though you’ve been close to the church. Why do you think you need God now’? You wouldn’t need God to move on. You’ve been doing stuffs pretty well without him. well, It’s really not enough to find God just to get things off the hook’. Rick wasn’t sure he was ready for this. But he felt he was there already. ‘well, I wouldn’t mind you talk to me. My history hasn’t been beautiful, and I know better than anyone what I need. Though I’ve played the big boss…but’. Rick couldn't hold it. He poured his heart to Mike. He was beginning to connect with him. ‘It’s a question that people ask every day. I’ve asked that question too. What’s next is nothing to dread. It is none off your business. By the way how do you think you could change things – you actually can? All that’s the problem is you. Mike spoke sternly.
